About us

Modern luxury in a Victorian-style

Whistlewood was built circa 1875 and influenced by Victorian and Dutch architecture.  It was owned by wealthy prince merchants of the period. Walmer was an upmarket rural garden village with wide leafy tree-lined lanes and its own railway line.  It attracted many visitors and its popularity has not waned.

Much has changed over the years. Walmer is now both a bustling business and residential area. Its leafy and central position makes it an attractive place to reside.

Whistlewood, an old home with high ceilings, stained glass windows, and doubled-backed fireplaces has now been lovingly restored to offer a unique modern accommodation entwined with historic charm and a memorable stay to its guests.

The house has also been updated with solar power and back-up water tanks to avoid power or water disruptions to our guests and visitors.

Your host, Jane, comes from a background of 33 years in the tourism and customer service industries and will be on hand to assist in any possible manner to provide a seamless and memorable stay.
